My professional experience working in the field of Sports Medicine is multifaceted and includes working with the national Canadian teams for both Judo and Diving, as well as working on a smaller scale with local amateur sports teams.
Prior to my formal medical education, I also worked as a trainer at the collegiate level with the UBC Thunderbirds where I gained invaluable experience and formed my foundation for the area of Sports Medicine.

Academically, aside from my medical training, I have completed an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and a graduate degree in Public Health, both from the University of British Columbia (UBC). Upon completion of my medical degree at UBC, I went on to split my postgraduate training between the University of Calgary and the University of Ottawa. Practicing at multiple institutions across the country has allowed me to draw upon different patterns of practice and has, I believe, made me more diverse and adaptable as a physician.

Sport and competition have always been central to my life. I've tried my hand at many athletic pursuits in both the individual and team realm. I have competed at an international level in Taekwondo and hold a black belt in this sport. I have also competed at a provincial level in basketball and continue to play for leisure. More recently I’ve re-focused my training to compete in a triathlon next year.

My personal experience suffering with a prolonged concussion helped to develop my passion for Sports Medicine and continues to drive my career today. The challenges I faced during my recovery ultimately led to my retirement from competitive sport. Therefore, I am extremely passionate about helping young athletes to recover both quickly and effectively, so they are able to further pursue their athletic aspirations. My ultimate goal with every athlete I treat is to provide the best care, expertise, and support possible in order to facilitate a return to full athletic potential.
